 “Globalizing Turner: The Significance of the Frontier in Twentieth Century China”

Shellen X. Wu is an Associate Professor of History. Her research focuses on modern Chinese history, history of science, and global history. Frederick Jackson Turner’s frontier thesis has been a seminal part of twentieth century American history. This talk places Turner in a global context and addresses the question of how thinking about frontiers helped to define modern China.
